I had a built server with Nextcloud, Jitsi, and even tinkering with a mail server. Then we moved and my services were interrupted for ~1 month and caused chaos.

Since then I've tried to strategically choose hosting. Like you I have a synology NAS for photos as there isn't a high cost for that being offline. I moved to Zoho for email and Calender as there was a very high cost to losing access to the shared calendar.
