The story in Unicorn Overlord is pretty basic. There's no moral ambiguity. I saw this earlier thread on some of the localization:

Honestly from the first few, it seems a little over-flowerly and Victorian, but the original Japanese looks super bland. I tried switching to Japanese voices (which made Persona 5 and Eternights sooo much better) and it's really bad. The Japanese voices do not match the setting at all and their voice acting is super terrible. (It would work if it were a Samurai / Ghost of Sushima type game, but not a fantasy game).
The game is insanely addictive. I'm about 50 hours in and just made it to Albion earlier tonight. I have a feeling the game is doing well because of the gameplay. I doubt the even the original story is anything special. Don't play it expecting 13 Sentinels.
