Fresh snow, new snow, nobody-has-walked-on-this-yet snow.
In the mountains, there's no traffic, foot or vehicle, to tromp over the snow, turning it all slushy.
Perhaps a deer will skim over it, a bird hop atop and leave its prints, but for the most part the newly fallen snow rests lightly over the landscape, shining brightly under the sun.
And it's so very very quiet . . .
