I don't think much of such "release models" where people sticking to a certain commercial service are rewarded, while others, which maybe would welcome such a release more, will be left out.

The idea maybe to reward those, who are "true" fans, sure. But the reality is, that those are rewarded, who decided to use a certain commercial service (to put my first sentence in other words).

On top of that: While I'm following you (with joy no less!) on Bandcamp, such a service means nothing to me personally. I even may feel tempted to pirate it to the masses so everyone interested in it may listen to it, and that is, because that is imho the right of every true fan, regardless, which ecosystem inhabited.

And that is making me question: Why artificialy restrict those who can listen to your music at all? What is it good for? I have no sane answer for it. I think in the end it only benefits the commercial service behind it, not your listeners.
