Look, I have no problem with people who choose to live in the country. I may join them someday.
But part of the tradeoff involved with removing yourself from the center of most human activity is that you have to accept a simple mathematical reality: if a political leader can travel 15 minutes to meet with 100 constituents or 3 hours to meet with 10, it’s generally a better use of their time to meet with the 100.
This is why I’m unsympathetic when I hear rural North Carolinians complain…
