So on our solar floor heat, we have a stock touch screen Honeywell "smart" thermostat and it's terrible. The touchscreen barely works and of course I didn't let it connect to wifi.

The thing is, programmable thermostats with remote connection/customization aren't a terrible idea. It's just that every one goes with "connects to our cloud server, harvests your data, bricks your device if we go under, and compromises your security."

Is there such a thing as a hacker's thermostat? (boosts welcome)
