I think we underestimate that a public official who may or may not make regulatory determinations about an asset class is forbidden to own that asset due to conflict of interest.
But bitcoin is math and non physical and I'm pretty sure a lot of people learned before buying rather than buying and then learning about it after

I'm still glad Gensler did us all a good service by being knowledgeable enough to declare bitcoin as a commodity and all the scam coins as unregistered securities. He didn't need to own bitcoin to do that
