A few docs on the tubes seem to indicate that PLA filament can be colored with Rit dye so at some point I may try my hand at making specific tints of brown and beige to color match old plastic parts like key caps. If it's like dying fabrics it will require carefully controlling variables and attentive note taking to achieve repeatable and consistent tints. In other words, a good time!
