#WritersCoffeeClub Have you ever made up something in a story which has come true in real life?
I wrote "Halting State" in 2005-06, knowing it'd be published in 2007, and setting it in an extrapolated 2017.
I kept reading the news in 2006-7 (after delivery to my editor but before publication) with a sense of dread because it was a VERY "now" novel and bits of the background kept coming true.
Same with the sequel, "Rule 34".
They're both about 70% historical novels, now. Still feel like SF.
