The Bitruvian Man on Nostr: Indeed, this is the way ...
Indeed, this is the way

As people get older, they get grumpy and lose the wonder of life because they think they've already seen everything and know what it's about. Their conviction blinds them to any new experience of it.
When we first harnessed electricity or radio waves, people thought it was magic...audio and video transporting through the air invisibly. Many were afraid of the tech. Now, people take it for granted that they can just plug a device into the wall and it "comes alive." They stop seeing the magic or new possibilities of it.
I believe in living life in wonder, in awe of things I think I already "know". Like a kid watching the same movie over and over not getting bored, each time finding something new to enjoy or understand about it. Not thinking I already "know" and shutting myself off from any new experience of it or new data about it.
At any moment, I can learn or experience something new about people, places, and things, that I thought I already "knew". The ability to add this new data into my "good idea", to shift my paradigm, allows me to get out of my story about it, and be with it in the present moment.
It's good to have a "good idea" about things we've seen before, it can protect us from harm. A good idea can grow, it can be updated with new information. A conviction can not. A conviction can be dangerous. A conviction stops listening to reality. A conviction is a death.
