"AI" being "free" or "cheap" seems like an illusion, sort of like Uber being cheap, and a willingness to depend on it even for mundane tasks is a statement that you prefer the more expensive, anti-human option. Money is meaningless to the tech oligarchs who control these data centers, but they can use the threat of automation to scare workers out of organizing, or train a generation to lack the skills to organize or do the work themselves
