A pattern too few ppl are familiar with, which I use to define the term "concern trolling" (there are other variant definitions but I think this is the most useful):
"If you want to achieve X, you shouldn't do what you're doing, which is counterproductive, but instead do Y."
Where the speaker wants X to fail or is completely indifferent to the success of X, and stands to benefit from you doing Y.
