Something that brought me joy today: I'm the glaze tech at a pottery studio. I've been trying to formulate a good cone 6 Oxidation iron red glaze that doesn't come out dull brown. I've been studying glaze chemistry for several years & am finally at a point where it's all coming together. I started with a recipe for "Randy's red" & was able to reformulate it for materials we have, matching the orig chemistry. It's stunning. Needed no special firing program.
