In a small stream, a hungry fox was drinking water when a lamb arrived downstream and began to drink as well. The fox narrowed its cunning eyes and bared its teeth, saying: "How dare you steal the water where I drink?"
The lamb humbly replied: "I am below you in the stream; I could not possibly dirty your water."
The fox, even more enraged, continued: "Then why are you insulting me? Your father offended me six months ago!"
The lamb responded: "There must be some mistake—I was born only three months ago. I did not exist then and bear no blame."
The fox snapped back: "You are guilty of ruining my field by grazing on my land!"
The lamb replied: "That is impossible, for I have not yet grown teeth."
Out of arguments, the fox lunged at the lamb and devoured it.

When the wicked are determined to harm,
no words will be able to stop them.
They will take everything from you, little by little,
under the false promise of causing no further harm.
And when there is nothing left to take,
they will complete your destruction.
