Yet another reason to reject the Australian government's plan to restrict access to social media: not everyone 16 and over has access to their own identification documents. Preventing someone from accessing their own ID gets used as part of coercive control in family violence or exploitation of migrant workers. In more mundane situations, there would be plenty of 16 and 17 year olds from poorer families who don't have a learners permit or passport they can use for ID because their family doesn't have the resources to teach them to drive or to travel
