First day back today and I was surprised to hear "meep! meep!" outside my office door on the 2nd floor. A young pīwakawaka/NZ fantail was lost inside our building. It's a new open-plan building with no openable windows. We eventually managed to corral it into a lab access room and I caught it with a butterfly net then released it outside.
A student mentioned that it was in the building yesterday too, so I expect it was getting hungry.
