Physalis grisea leaves get stippled by true bugs (Hemiptera) but the plant will still thrive. I’ve never seen hornworms attack the plant in the years I’ve grown it.
Birds and squirrels love the berries. So if you want all of the fruit, you will want to securely cage the plant.
