Although Korean tastes have recently westernized, when I was young, almost everyone ate only Korean food based on rice.
Thanks to my dad, who loved the USA more than his own country (he's a Vietnam War veteran), my family used to eat various kinds of bread occasionally, but in the case of white bread, no one liked it.
So sometimes mold would grow on it, my mom used to nag my dad for buying bread that no one ate.

One day when I was around 13. It was the first day of winter vacation, so the school finished early.
Snow was softly falling, and as I was excitedly returning with my friends, one of them said in front of some food truck:
"This place is delicious. We can't see each other for a while, so let's eat this together."

I don't know if it was because of the snow, the start of the vacation, or because I was with my favorite friends, but the sandwich was shockingly delicious!😯💡
I carefully watched the lady make the sandwich with a hawk eye.
The ingredients were common ones always found at home, and the method was simple.

When I got home, I asked my dad to buy some bread, and he ran out shaking his booty. He was so skinny that he might have been shaking his tailbone.
(If there had been smartphones at that time, I would have texted him on my way home, but I'm Gen X.😑)

That night, I grilled a mountain of street toast for my family using the recipe I had memorized, and it became one of my mom's favorite snacks, even though she mostly ate Korean food.
