continued from above:
“For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea; 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 and all ate the same spiritual food; 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink . . . 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness. . . . 11 Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.
Look again at that last verse: “Let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.”
Christian! It can happen to us . . . to me and to you. And that is why I so often pray day after day, “Lord, keep me walking in holiness. Chasten me. Encourage me. Discipline me. Humble me. Do everything and anything necessary to keep my eyes focused on Christ and walking by His side.”
Satan has been unleashed IN THE CHURCH. The prophesied apostasies that would occur in the last days of earth’s history are metastasizing throughout an ever-increasing number of church bodies.
Christian! Be on the alert. Our adversary, the devil, is prowling about, seeking to devour you and me and those we love. But resist him, firm in your faith and rooted in deep humility before our God. (See 1 Peter 5:8-9)
It can happen to any of us if we are not paying attention.
