I had been aware of file descriptor passing over UNIX sockets for a long time, but it wasn't until yesterday that I found myself in a situation where it offered a clean solution to a problem I had.
...and today I woke up with the realization that I could easily have solved the problem without them, too. Oh well, I like this solution more.
