I don't know precisely what I'd expect the implementation to be (in terms of things like should there be a list of recently-deleted branches also available so you know what branchname to refer to? or should you just know) but it'd absolutely make sense for the reflogs to stay around as long as the associated commits somehow. The GC can take care of all of it at once.
