I see your point, but if was selling something, I would prefer a private coin that is two ways pegged to Bitcoin than Monero, merely because I don't have to wonder about the exit to Bitcoin if I need it, and I also assume that if that was possible for privacy coin, it will be possible for stable coins and their will be an ecosystem that opens Bitcoin liquidity to both the privacy and stable coin, all without going through a central exchange.
I want Monero folks to prosper, but I also want Bitcoin to be big and very very wildly adopted so it is hard to make illegal.
I believe ther could be a qualitative difference between separate chains that have to go through exchanges, and linked chains that look from the outside as one thing and scale for all users with no kyc.
