In 1890, the German printers’ union newspaper reported that Wilhelm Lipp, a 30-year-old Stuttgart-born German immigrant working as a compositor in Cincinnati, was murdered by a gun-wielding colleague. Lipp was survived by his wife and three children. The United States has always had a problem with gun violence.
