X.Org and Wayland are both shit and stupid. There, I said it. #x11 #wayland
Under KDE Plasma Wayland:
- Try scrolling with two fingers on the touch pad. When you scroll and lift your fingers, 50% of the time it will register it as a "swipe" and suddenly send you flying within the document you were reading. AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH
- Massive graphical glitch during logon. Makes me think my monitor blew up every time. Not very important; fixes itself immediately.
Under KDE Plasma X11 (X.Org):
- Automatic re-login doesn't work. If you log out of the session, you can't get back in; it's just a black screen with a blinking tty cursors and you have to Ctrl + Alt + F2 (or F3 or ...) and log in on another tty. Maybe there's a command you can then run from there to restart the session but I've no idea; I just reboot.
- A few key-bindings, including Alt + D, Alt + <, and Alt + > are "swallowed" by the window manager and not sent to the application. Have to delete some key bindings from the settings to make it work: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=365255 (last comment as of the time I'm writing this)
I don't know how to fix the scrolling issue under Wayland, and it's extremely annoying. I don't know how to fix the relogin issue under X.Org, but it's less annoying, and the key binding issue was easy to solve. So, for now it's going to be X.Org.
When I open a link from Emacs, it doesn't focus the Firefox window. I was told this was a Wayland limitation but switching to X11 didn't fix it. Bah. Not too important though.
