I upgraded my gear which caused problems both in terms of safety and onlooker curiosity. And you are 100% correct, dealing with people who range from insisting on telling me my camera gear was ill-suited to the task of street photography (it wasn't) to those insisting on having model releases (both people and buildings) quickly removed my motivation for producing.
I still do appeaciate others work.
