Good morning everyone. It’s Friday!!! :) The weekend will be here in a few more hours!!! I hope it’s good and peaceful and I hope you get to do all the things that bring you joy. Please remember, to be kind to everyone around you and take time to recharge and rest yourself if needed.
Today we are gonna be talking about Red Giant Phase.
The red giant phase is the one that occurs in the final stages of the evolution of a Sun-like star. A star is held together by gravity, which pulls inward and is counteracted by the outward pressure from nuclear fusion in its core. When the star runs out of hydrogen for fusion, the fusion process stops, and gravity takes over, causing the core to collapse and heat up. This increased heat causes hydrogen burning to ignite in the outer layers, followed by helium burning into heavier metals. These events lead to an increase in temperature and outward pressure, causing the star to expand and turn redder.
