Saint Andrew, the First-Called, brother of Saint Peter, heard John the Baptist proclaim Jesus as the Lamb of God. Andrew immediately followed Jesus and then brought his brother, Peter, to meet Him. He is known for his missionary work, especially in the region of Scythia, which is now modern-day Romania, where he is considered the patron saint. Tradition says he was martyred by crucifixion on an X-shaped cross.
