A rare positive take on the job prospects for programmers in the age of #AI. I think a good analogy is likely to be to sysadmins: twenty years ago, there were a lot of sysadmins, babying individual pets. These days, there are far fewer of those sorts of sysadmins — but still lots of jobs in ops. They just moved up a couple of levels of abstraction. Maybe this is where we move properly from artisanal hand-crafted code to actual software engineering?
