Like, "abolish the police" became "defund the police" became "support police retraining" became "support the police", and now we're at the point where a lot of Centrists have genuinely succeeded in wiping their own memories of the time when burning down police stations was more popular than either presidential candidate.
This also means that they have to roll back rules that limit the police, because those rules are a constant reminder of *why* they needed to be implemented, and that in turn reminds them of the summer when the world broke and their system turned out to have alternatives after all.
