I'm sure the nitwit hasn't even read the "Equality Act", but she supports it. I've read it, and it would be a disaster for women.
The "Equality Act" doesn't have a damn thing to do with equality for women. It would essentially erase the female sex as a distinct legal category of persons and replace it with "gender identity". We are talking everything (women's restrooms, women's shelters, women's sports, women's prisons, etc.) being taken nationwide.
What is gender identity, and what in the hell are "gender-related identity, appearance, mannerisms"? It's basically self-identification.
The "Equality Act" states that sex includes "gender identity" which is NOT true. Sex is not the same as "gender identity". Women can already claim discrimination base on sex stereotypes (Price Waterhouse) and pregnancy. As far as discrimination in employment for lesbians and gay men, the Supreme Court Bostock decision should cover employment. And, states like California and Washington have added discrimination laws for gay and lesbian.
“(2) GENDER IDENTITY.—The term ‘gender identity’ means the gender-related identity, appearance, mannerisms, or other gender-related characteristics of an individual, regardless of the individual’s designated sex at birth.
“(4) SEX.—The term ‘sex’ includes—
“(A) a sex stereotype;
“(B) pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition;
“(C) sexual orientation or gender identity; and
“(D) sex characteristics, including intersex traits.

“(2) (with respect to gender identity) an individual shall not be denied access to a shared facility, including a restroom, a locker room, and a dressing room, that is in accordance with the individual's gender identity.”
