There isn't a "but" after "I want free speech"
either you do or you don't. you can want #freespeech without hate, but silencing the #hate doesn't make it go away. you can't #ban hate away. you can't #legislate hate away.
and the unintended consequences are too costly. what is so hard for so many to understand?
