Who knows... maybe if they want to post some tidbit of information on the official site, they hand it off to IT, and IT posts it when they get around to it. But on Facebook, they can do things themselves.

Since younger people aren't on Facebook to the same extent as older generations, this might further restrict who actually sees their posts as time goes by
