When people say “that CEO had to make that unethical detrimental-to-society decision because that’s their duty to shareholders,” my conclusion is that the publicly-traded company construct is unethical.
I don’t own any direct stock in them, but it occurs to me I might have an ethical obligation to shift my retirement funds so none of them are indirectly invested in publicly-traded companies.
