Today, 16 years ago, Satoshi released the first public version of the #Bitcoin software, 5 days after mining the Genesis Block.
As soon as the P2P network had at least one peer, proof-of-work block production began. Block 1 was only found on the 9th!

Here is the "original" repository, which was started by Satoshi... It migrated to github in 2015 because it was a better platform, with more network effect, and that's where they created the concept of "Bitcoin Core" (supposedly to encourage other implementations)
