It's funny to me that they still use the terms 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend' without tweak-spasming (compared to when the gendered terms 'husband' and 'wife' "need to be replaced" with some genderless 'partner')--and all only because a husband or wife is so far away from the expectation of actualization they have regarding themselves. It's demanding a change in procedure for something they believe they'll never have anyway.

Meanwhile, they're just so fucking happy/blindsided to have a boyfriend or girlfriend--something they can be proud about and humble brag over (while it's new). It doesn't even blip their radar that these too are binary gender terms.

I hate these cardboard people so much.
