I did forget about Nintendo. That was an embarrassing omission.
I’m not convinced that the ‘app ecosystem’ of the game consoles (or smart TVs!) is relevant, since they have such a microscopic number of apps compared to i/PadOS & PC/Mac.
The comp, IMO, is *games* as that’s what these business models are predicated around. My understanding is that games don’t get on the stores without paying a standard commission to the console operator (Sony, MS, Nintendo)?
