I have done it many times too, it is pretty enjoyable. I like to keep myself busy.
And as others said, plenty of water and a bit of salt helps.
I like to have just finger-lick of salt when I am really hungry, 2-3 dl water and generally it is gone in 15 min.
What I love in 36-48 hour fasts is the tight feeling in the full abdomen region, I feel I have something back what I missed.
Also, with frequent 24-36 hours fasting (once a week) I got control over hunger and my mental state, so I am not affected if I don't have time to eat or there is no quality food, I can skip junk food without any bad feelings.
