I've always dreamed about traveling by rail and enjoying that Sleeper Car Service.
Aside from looking out the window at the passing scenery ("See the USA!"), a long trip would probably encourage READING (good) and CONVERSATION (but that would depend on your fellow travelers, and might not be a great thing).
No smart phones, internet, facebook...
