I yearn for people who, when they engage with a new idea, instead of falling back on familiar reasoning and tropes, seize the idea and shake it to its bones, pursuing where it leads, accepting the premise and teasing out the conclusions, building new upon new, so that we see something more clearly, not obscured by the thoughts we have already had.
