You play as a woman of colour in a sci-fi setting.
Your society is explicitly stated to be a matriarchy.
The women have many husbands.
Your people are nomads who live in caravans, like gypsies. But your people also control the Timespinner, a time machine.
They didn't invent it. They just found it and know how to use it, and are the self-proclaimed keepers of the machine.
As the responsible matriarchy that it is, they only use the time machine to travel back in time to warn their past selves every time a superior race finds them, so they can move their nomadic tribe elsewhere and be safe.
The time traveller is erased from the timeline “so there is no paradox”.
In a piece of lore you find, a man of the tribe returns from time travel to warn them about danger, but his wife doesn't remember him and she has new husbands now. The tribe is like “thanks for your sacrifice, but there's no refunds, janny”.
You play as “the resistance”.
There is an evil empire from a neighbour planet who attacks your gypsy camp, looking for the Timespinner. The evil emperor himself shows up and kills your mother as she helps you activate the time machine to go back and warn them about this attack.
But you're not going back to warn them: you're a badass girlboss who's perpetually angry and humourless. You're here to kick ass.
So you perform a series of terrorist attacks and wanton murder in the past to weaken the empire in the future so you can kill the emperor and get revenge.
Nevermind that altering the past (~1000 years) would butterfly effect the future into something very different; we seem to be going with Back to the Future time travel logic here.
The female artist who did the characters ensured everyone is some shade of brown and has an ugly wide nose; but the few whiter characters are all men.
All men are depicted as either incompetent, weak, spiteful or cartoonishly evil and devoid of morals.
All women are depicted as intelligent, strong and morally good.
All but one, an evil queen. She's just misguided because a fascist, imperialist, meritocratic, colonialist empire is oppressing her people.
The queen seems to be a lesbian who turned evil because their oppressors killed her lesbian lover; but you beat the shit out of her until she becomes “good” again.
All the good soldiers you meet are women.
All the evil soldiers you kill are men.
