I'm somewhere in between.
After 100% pantsing my first novel, I decided to give myself a basic outline to follow for book two. That worked out much better for my writing style, and I never looked back.
The outline I make now offers both direction and flexibility, allowing for deviation when necessary, particularly with world building. It's a nice balance.
