npub1fk3kzmu5c9p9wnmueeh4aa6yvqfn4y6rswfwttwlxle7trrg2pgskjets5 (npub1fk3…ets5) A distribution amp usually gives you up to 10 DB gain but is mostly there just to facilitate not losing signal with all the taps. A preamp, especially a remote one up on the antenna can give you up to 20 DB gain but that can be overkill for many stronger stations. Some provide an adjustment to dial down the gain. Older amps also have an FM radio Notch filter so it doesn't bother adjacent analog channels. That may still affect a few lower digital ones.
