I think PoW will be very important for spam control. Not on every event, but associated with a profile. Re-usable proof-of-work, as with Bitcoin. Paywalls are a centralizing pressure because you have to trust the recipient of the payments. Paywalls are fine for people who don't want to be accessible to the general public.

Thanks! Seems a lot of people have lost interest in proof of work (I guess the concensus is it won't be great for spam prevention) but I still think it could be good for discovery / sorting.
