I simultaneously believe that we'll need to devote a lot of land to farming and also that we need to minimize the size of the "wildland interface". I don't know how to reconcile this contradiction, but I suspect it means just figuring out how to live alongside nature.
Getting rid of cars will make a huge difference. Though if agriculture is going to get more labor intensive, we'll still have people living in places where they need cars. So maybe we just slow them down to 25mph, everywhere.
