I’m not sure why the processing & contrast in the six still images is nicer than in the movie version – I downloaded these from the JPL SL9 archives & elsewhere, as I don’t have the originals or the data on my laptop any more.

I mean, forgive me – it has been 30 years.

But I suspect it’s down to use being very busy that week, taken by surprise a little, & constantly adjusting our workflow as later impacts occurred.

It was all a bit competitive, after all 🙂
