I swear, the incidence of Amazon being late on a delivery is very strongly correlated with me going "I'll be nice and group these items into a 2-day delivery instead of a 1-day and a 2-day delivery".

And when Amazon is a few hours late getting a package into their processing center, they respond by delaying it multiple days. Your 2-day delivery becomes a 5-day delivery.

And the kicker is it still ends up being split into multiple packages.
