When space missions launch from Earth, they carry all the fuel they can for their entire missions. Once they run out of fuel, the mission is over. But a longstanding dream is to refuel spacecraft in space so they can keep working and even reach difficult destinations. The cryogenic propellants used by NASA have a habit of leaking into the vacuum of space. Still, the agency is working on new technology to stop the boil-off, allowing spacecraft to be refueled.
