it was already clear that the Israeli attacks on Gaza would be of an indiscriminate violence we had not witnessed before, and that 2.3 million people in Gaza – more than 50 per cent of them children – were at severe risk.
Whereas the actions of Hamas and the supporters it had encouraged were not "indiscriminate violence"?
Several people on the ground have pointed out that the attackers didn't know about the Nova festival, and had in fact planned to invade further into Israel. Their plans were just thwarted by this unexpected opportunity to (indiscriminately) murder, rape and kidnap young Israelis. Had they not been arrested by this apparently irresistable opportunity, these commentators point out, any Israeli civilian populations on their attack routes would've been "at severe risk".
But that doesn't matter, apparently.
