So we associate fps with performance, even though it's only a nice approximation. But then people see some tech that triples fps and they think "oh wow, _performance_ has improved", when it hasn't.
It's all a big misnomer/misattribution. At best you can say "rendering performance", which is a copout that DF often uses.
