OK, you didn't hear this here.
You know the way supermarkets hate staff so much, they now want customers to act as checkout staff by using those iniquitous, never-working & patronising self-service things? A friend told us "I know someone who regularly buys a bottle of wine at Tesco for the cost of a bag of onions."
It seems they put the bottle on the scale, weight it as onions, get the printout, then scan the printout at the checkout.
I can't see a downside to this enterprising opportunity.
